A Look into the Process: Painting Bob Marley

A while back I was walking along the sidewalk In Downtown Lafayette on my way to Festival International. It was a beautiful day filled with good friends and music in the night air. As we walked Andrew and I laughed and reminisced about all the things we did when we were young. I am an only child, but if I were to call someone my brother it would be Andrew. As a close relative we grew up spending most days together since we were close in age and we went on too many family vacations to count. But on this night, somewhere amongst all the laughter, he expressed how much it would mean to him to own a piece of art from me. This was something we had spoken about before but this time I could hear the sincerity in his voice, and it truly meant something to me.
I don’t always have a lot of extra time to paint, but it is one of my absolute favorite things to do. And when I am inspired I have this almost electric feeling. A feeling that flows though me and out through my paintbrush and Andrew had inspired me that day. Once I started painting it felt as though no time passed before Bob Marley came alive on my canvas. I gave the painting to Andrew and his girlfriend Phobe this Christmas and it now hangs proudly in their house.
One of my favorite things to do while painting is document the progress as I go, because as much as I love the end result the process is the reason I do it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do, I know there will be many more to come!

Working with Chelsie Bourg (now Gros!) on her wedding invitations and website was a dream, not just because she is one of my best friends, but also because she is one of the kindest people I know and she's not afraid of fun design! We worked with her to create a look that would make her wedding stand out and reflect the bright and wonderful person she is while still matching her rustic floral wedding decor!

Associated Pump & Supply sells and rents pumps and other dewatering equipment. It is a flourishing, family owned business that has been in Houma, Louisiana for many years. Associated Pump was in need of an updated website that not only showcased their services, but also showed visitors all the equipment they had to offer. We were able to come up with a solution that was more corporate and modern, and easy for visitors to navigate. Check them out at associatedpump.com

Lafourche ARC continues to do so much for those in our community with developmental disabilities. Everyday they work to better the lives of so many people, but their web presence was not a reflection of the work that they did and continue to do. Together with the W.L. Gaiennie Company we worked to create a new brand and website that showed all the positive work done by the ARC. We used a mix of impactful imagery with fun bright colors and a more serious, corporate design elements to set the tone for the important work that they do. The new site will be up soon at lafourchearc.com
